Classical Ballet -- Cecchetti Method

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County offers Classical Ballet in the the Cecchetti Method. This method of classical ballet provides a balanced plan of development for students from the first pre-school lesson to professional levels. A system of graded examinations encourages serious ballet students to achieve the highest of goals in classical dance. Pursuing the Cecchetti ballet exams gives the student a greater sense of purpose and accomplishment.



 

Schedule and Tuition

Classes are held on Tuesdays in the FAC dance studio at 810 Lyttleton Street in Camden.

Fee: $40 per month
Tuition is due the first of every month and is payable to the Fine Arts Center. There will be no refunds for missed classes. Should a class be canceled, a make-up class will be offered on another day of the week. There is no extra charge for months that have five weeks. There is no discount for months with fewer than four weeks.

Suggestions
To help your child get the most out of his or her dance class:

  • Label shoes with your child's name and pack them in a small dance bag. Please do not put toys or food in the dance bag.
  • Arrive 5 minutes prior to class time. Do not enter the classroom until the previous class has been excused.
  • Parents, please observe from the porch window. No parents are allowed in the classroom with the exception of Parent Observation Day.
  • If your child is experiencing separation anxiety, please do not leave the campus in case he or she needs to be excused from class.
  • Please inform Miss Judy of any physical or developmental concerns, which may affect your child's learning process. Also, please note any allergies as candy is sometimes used as an incentive or reward.
  • Be sure your child uses the bathroom before class.
  • In order to gain greater proficiency in the art of dance, frequency as well as intensity of study is necessary. The importance of regular attendance cannot be overemphasized.

    Pre-School, age 3.5 - 4

    Pale Pink Leotard

    Primary, age 5 - 7

    4:30 - 5:30 PM


    Light Blue Leotard

    Level 1, age 8 - 10

    5:30 - 6:30 PM


    White Leotard

    Level 2, age 11 & up

    6:30 - 7:30 PM


    Lavender Leotard

     
Suggested leotard style: Mirella camisole, tank or cap sleeve. However, any style in the appropriate color will be accepted. No leotards with attached skirts please.

All Levels: Capezio "Ballet Pink" seamless footed tights and Capezio or Bloch pink leather split-sole ballet slippers with elastic.

Dress Code (Boys)

Black bike shorts, white t-shirt, white socks and black
or white leather ballet slippers with elastic.

Long hair must be up in a tidy bun. Short hair must be pinned off the face. No jewelry or legwarmers are allowed. Skirts may be worn on the last Tuesday of each month. A dance sweater is permitted in cold weather. Students who are not dressed properly may be asked to observe class.


About Miss Judy... Miss Judy has over 40 years experience as a dance educator and is a certified member of: Cecchetti USA, Cecchetti International Classical Ballet, Cecchetti Council of America and The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, London England.

Miss Judy is devoted to the art of teaching the Cecchetti Method, emphasizing developing technique, body placement, quality of movement, musicality and style. The nurturing quality of Miss Judy's teaching imparts students with poise, confidence and grace. Her vocation is to nurture the minds, bodies and spirits of children through the love of dance, while encouraging them to strive for excellence in all they do.
