Music Lessons Fees:  Pay before you play. Fees are monthly before the first lesson of that month.  The monthly fee for private lessons is based on the weekly cost times the number of lessons scheduled by the instructor for that month. There are no refunds for student cancellations. 


Guitar Lessons with Danny Riddick  (Intermediate Level)

You are never too old to learn the ins and outs of playing guitar with long-time musician and guitar player, Danny Riddick. Learn the basics, guitar maintenance, and various music styles. Students must have their own tuneable guitar with a tuner. To schedule your classes, please call Danny at 803-243-8908.  

Piano with Cheryl Black or Jaston Hawes (ages 7 & up)

Cheryl Black
Cheryl Black graduated from Winthrop College (now University) with a B.S. degree in Applied Piano, and continued her education at USC, earning a Masters in Elementary Education and an Educational Specialist in Elementary Administration.  Mrs. Black taught public school music in Kershaw County—mainly at Lugoff Elementary School and Camden Elementary School of the Creative Arts.  (She was also assigned to smaller schools in the district for one day a week at times. These schools included Bethune Elementary, Baron DeKalb Elementary, and Mt. Pisgah Elementary.)

Mrs. Black has taught private piano lessons since her sophomore year at Winthrop—with faculty supervision, at first.  Other musical endeavors include accompanying musicals at the Fine Arts Center and working with children’s tone chimes and choral music at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.  Cheryl also plays in the adult hand bell choir at LSUMC and in the percussion section of the Camden Community Concert Band.

Jaston Hawes graduated from the USC/Columbia, where  he studied voice under Metropolitan Opera Diva Janet Hopkins, earning a Performance Certificate in Voice as well as his B.A. in Music Education (K-12). He also earned his Masters in Choral Conducting (under the direction of Dr. Larry Wyatt and Dr. Alicia Walker) and served as the assistant Director of the Dutch Fork Choral society (2014-15). Jaston has acted as the music director for musicals at the FAC for the last two years and teaches General Music Education for Kershaw County Public Schools. Voice Lessons with Jaston Hawes or Amanda Britt

(ages 8 to adult)

Amanda Britt is a graduate of Winthrop University. She studied Opera, Musical Theatre and Classical Music. Amanda has been performing in shows at the FAC for two years and teaches several Musical Theatre classes for all ages. Brass/Private Theory Lessons

Instructor: Kevin McKinney
Kevin is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. He offers lessons to all brass instrumentalists, including trumpet, trombone, baritone, and horn and is available for tutoring in all aspects of music theory, including the fundamentals of reading music and in AP music theory.
