About the artists
Curtis Phillips (C.C.), a Camden native and graduate of the University of South Carolina/Columbia with a BA in Art will exhibit landscapes as well as some of his newer abstract pieces during this exhibition. Known for his oil, watercolor, pencil and gouache, he will include poetry to accompany several pieces. Phillips spent some time in LA and New York before returning south. He currently lives in Charleston, SC. His work can be seen in public and private collections throughout the United States.
Chet Lanious, a Pennsylvania native, will be exhibiting some of his handmade furniture. Chet creates functional pieces that are pleasing to the eye and touch and should be considered heirlooms to tie one generation to the next. Lanious was a Presbyterian minister in Louisiana and Oklahoma before joining the US Army as a chaplain. He served in that capacity for over 25 years and retired from Ft. Jackson in Columbia. After his retirement, Chet pursued a degree at Haywood Community College in the Professional Craft in Wood program. Recently his pieces were seen as part of an exhibition at the South Carolina Artisans Center in Walterboro, SC.
